About the Forum
"KOZATSKY ZVYTYAGY” – THE
Time and place: October 3-4, 10:00 to 19:00, the National Museum of People’s Architecture and Household, Pirohovo
Aim of the Forum: Rebirth and support of historical and cultural traditions of the Ukrainian Cossacks, Cossack combat culture, popularization of folk crafts and traditional ways of leisure.
We shall transform each visitor into an active participant of events, let everyone try the traditional crafts and skills, combat arts and ways of leisure! Each visitor will be able to make a little souvenir with his own hands.
The program of the festival includes the following:
- demonstration performances, sports competitions and the Master Class of the fighting Cossack craft - " Boyovyy Hopak " (between adults and children), tournament of the Ship Billiard, the Ukrainian Music show program, Master Classes of the folk crafts ("straw" and wicker-work of rod, embroidery, craft of making painted Easter eggs etc.), Cossack football, demonstration trainings, studies, and lectures on " Boyovyy Hopak ", Ukrainian traditional esotericism (secrets of the Ukrainian magicians), exhibition of the Cossack weapon, trade exhibition of products of folk craftsmen. In addition, "Cossack of the Year" competition will be held within this Forum.

Events within the territory of the festival:
- Cossack Forum - "Boyovyy Hopak". Competitions for the Ukrainian championship among children and adult persons in the following categories: duel single combat/fight, single dance, single dance with weapon;
- the Ukrainian Music show program on the main stage;
- Ship Billiard (the modern kind of the Cossack relaxation!) – competitions and Master Classes;
- Demonstration trainings, studies, and lectures on " Boyovyy Hopak ";
- Cossack amusements and fun games for each and every, who wish to compete and win: lifting of sacks, tug of war, throwing of hammer, fight on the boom etc.);
- Master Classes: embroidery, craft of making painted Easter eggs, Trypillya ceramics, making of toys and decorations;
- Athletic games with participation of famous and well-known athletes;
- Bandura players and collectives within all territory of the Festival;
- Vocal competition of the modern Ukrainian bards (singers and composers performing their own songs);
- Competition of the modern Ukrainian poets (poets of various genres and styles) and humorists;
- The Circle of Magicians: Master Classes, diagnostics, recreation, and rehabilitation.
- Cossack lunch - thick meat gruel for every visitor!
All visitors will have possibilities as follows:
- to relax on the fresh air in the Ukrainian natural territory, and in the real ancient Ukrainian village;
- to take part in the traditional games and Cossack amusements;
- to train in the Ship Billiard;
- to increase his/her spiritual degree and study traditional methods of development and improvement of a man;
- to buy embroidered shirts/blouses, earthenware/pottery kitchen utensils, painted Easter eggs, Ukrainian musical instruments, and other souvenirs made by craftsmen;
This will be interesting for the modern Cossacks:
- to study and have trainings in the Cossack methods of the art of self-defense - " Boyovyy Hopak ";
- to visit the exhibition of various arms and armaments;
- to take lessons of the real and famous craftsmen: blacksmith's work, woodcarving, making of earthenware/pottery;
- to study and have trainings in the traditional Cossack amusements;
- try his/her strength in the "test-your-strength" competitions.
This will be interesting for women:
- to take lessons of the real and famous artisans and craftsmen: "straw" and wicker-work of rod, embroidery, earthenware/pottery, weaving;
- to make the most beneficial, useful, and valuable toys in the world – the toys made by mother's hands;
- to dance in the merry and lively circle dance together with "Buttya" collective of musicians, to study and train in the Ukrainian songs and dances.
This will be interesting for children:
- to see the things and events, which they usually see only in the pages of their manuals and schoolbooks, as well in the television programs on the history of Ukraine;
- to see the children, who train in " Boyovyy Hopak " together with adults, and try their strength in this dance and competitions;
- to make traditional toys and decorations with their own hands;
- to deep into the world of the various sea adventures and amusements of the Ship Billiard;
- to listen to a fairy tale and take part in making of the real "straw bull-calf";
- to open for themselves the Ukrainian culture together with parents!
